Tutor of French

Tutor of French

Ref: 2324/140

Hours: 18.5 hours per week (0.5 fte)

Salary: Up to £40,109 pro rata per annum (subject to experience and qualifications). Plus generous benefits. These include:
  • 55 days annual leave per year pro rata (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)
  • Generous Occupational Pension Scheme
  • Financial support towards teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE)
About the role
An enthusiastic and inspirational Tutor of French is required to join an experienced and successful modern languages team, to lead the delivery of A level to the AQA French specification. In addition, the successful candidate will deliver a non-examination course in French (at approximately CEFR level A2) to students from Norway on our International programme. If the timetable allows, we also hope to offer enrichment opportunities to students not continuing with French post GCSE.

A high standard of French and enthusiasm for the subject are required. The candidate should have up to date knowledge of the French speaking world, engage fully with students and prepare interesting and focused lessons which allow students opportunities to communicate in the language and to meet the demands of the exam board successfully.

About the Person
The successful candidate will be happy to work collaboratively, but also independently, have good interpersonal skills, and be empathetic to the difficulties of learning a foreign language. Good IT skills and the ability to work with a wide range of different College systems would be a benefit, as would a willingness to produce and adapt teaching resources.

A degree in French or with some element of French included, or native speaker standard French, alongside some familiarity with recent developments in language teaching methodology are ideal but we would be keen to discuss the post with anyone who feels they may have suitable experience.
