Ashesi University is looking to recruit an experienced and competent person for the position of Counsellor. The Counsellor will provide counselling to students and staff from different countries of diverse cultural and social background.
Reports to: Director of Counselling and Coaching
Responsibilities:
- Provide professional and confidential counselling to students and staff, for a range of personal, social, professional concerns.
- Monitor the student body and provide clinical assessment and instigate appropriate treatment or interventions for students with critical/life threatening psychological or psychiatric problems.
- Initiate, plan and lead workshops and psychotherapeutic programs in response to identified needs in the University community.
- Maintain an elevated level of professional expertise through ongoing professional development.
- Expected to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the University's Strategic Plan, Policies and quality assurance processes. Understanding of cultural dynamics and sensitivity.
Qualifications and Skills
- The ideal candidate must have a strong sense of ethics and concern for the well-being of students and be a collaborative team member and make room for learning and growth.
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, or any other related field.
- Strong written and verbal skills in both English and French. Additional languages will be a plus.
- Must be competent in using Microsoft Office tools for reports.
