Job Description
Location:Nairobi, Kenya
Reports To:Finance and Administration Regional Manager
Contract Type:Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract (24 Months, Renewable)
PositionSummary
The accountant will provide financial andadministrative support to our Francophone and Anglophone clients across EastAfrica, ensuring the effective management of accounting, budgeting, cashflow, banking, and asset management functions. Working closely with clients andinternal stakeholders, the role requires strong bilingual communicationskills in both French and English.
Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financialrecords, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations,supporting budget planning and monitoring, and contributing to the efficientdelivery of financial services across the region.
Key Responsibilities
1.Accounting& Financial Reporting
• Process invoices and accounting transactionsin relevant financial systems.
• Support weekly and fortnightly accountingactivities for regional offices.
• Prepare and reconcile loan, third-party, andgeneral ledger accounts.
• Produce periodic financial reports andaccount analyses.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policiesand procedures.
• Assist in month-end, quarter-end, andyear-end closing activities.
2.BudgetManagement
• Assist in the preparation and consolidationof annual budgets.
• Monitor budget utilization and expendituretrends.
• Prepare budget tracking reports and varianceanalyses.
• Support mission and training budgetplanning.
• Respond to budget-related queries fromHeadquarters.
• Maintain and update budget managementsystems as required.
3.Cash& Treasury Management
• Manage cash provisioning and liquidityrequirements.
• Process supplier, consultant, and statutorypayments.
• Maintain petty cash records andreconciliations.
• Prepare monthly cash and bank reconciliationreports.
• Monitor cash flow and support treasuryplanning activities.
4.Banking& Administrative Support
• Upload and process payments through bankingplatforms.
• Maintain relationships with bankinginstitutions.
• Monitor bank and mobile money accounts.
• Track transactions and investigatediscrepancies.
• Manage cheque books and authorized signatoryrecords.
• Conduct supplier compliance checks beforepayment processing.
• Support administrative functions within theRegional Office.
5.AssetManagement
• Support the management of fixed assetsacross the region.
• Update and maintain asset records in theasset management system.
• Assist with asset verification, tracking,and reporting.
6.RegionalSupport & Team Collaboration
• Provide support to regional offices acrossEast Africa.
• Serve as backup for Accounting and BudgetManagement Officers when required.
• Train and guide colleagues on financialprocedures and systems.
• Contribute to process improvementinitiatives and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, BusinessAdministration, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent)is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in accounting, finance, oradministration within a reputable organization.
- Experience working in an international organization, developmentagency, NGO, or multinational environment is desirable.
Technical skills
- Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting and financial management systemssuch as Xero Accounting, QuickBooks online among others.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Language requirements
- Fluent written and spoken French (minimum B2 level).
- Fluent written and spoken English (minimum B2 level).
- Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations inboth languages.
