About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support and optimize payment operations in Cameroon, with a focus on transaction monitoring, operational efficiency, and payment performance.
You will work closely with local third-party payment providers, internal stakeholders across operations and customer service, and customers to ensure seamless payment processes, issue resolution, and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support and optimize payment operations in Cameroon, with a focus on transaction monitoring, operational efficiency, and payment performance.
You will work closely with local third-party payment providers, internal stakeholders across operations and customer service, and customers to ensure seamless payment processes, issue resolution, and regulatory compliance.
What you'll be doing
- Support end-to-end payment processes, including deposits, withdrawals, refunds, reconciliations, and customer queries.
- Collaborate with local payment providers to ensure timely resolution of transaction-related issues.
- Monitor transactions in real time to detect, investigate, and escalate suspicious or fraudulent activity.
- Assist in analyzing customer payment behavior and trends to recommend improvements in payment flows and methods.
- Contribute to operational enhancements by documenting workflows, SOPs, and process improvements.
- Support the integration and testing of new payment technologies and solutions.
- Ensure all payment operations comply with relevant regulations and internal policies.
- Provide timely support during system downtimes or payment-related incidents to minimize customer impact.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2-3 years of experience in payments, financial operations, or fintech/e-commerce environments.
- Fluency in English and French; Portuguese proficiency would be a nice to have
- Solid understanding of payment systems, funds flows, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience with mobile money and/or payments service providers and transaction monitoring tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
