Mission and Responsibilities

UM6P seeks an inspiring and innovative French language instructor to join its Language Center team. As a pivotal figure within our academic community, you will play a crucial role in shaping the linguistic proficiency and cultural awareness of our students, preparing them to thrive in a diverse and interconnected world.

Position Overview

As French Language instructor, you will lead dynamic and engaging language instruction. Through creative pedagogy and a commitment to excellence, you will cultivate an immersive learning environment that fosters critical thinking, communication skills, and intercultural competence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement active learning strategies, such as group discussions, role-plays, and problem-solving activities, to engage students and enhance their language acquisition skills.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments, presentations, and language proficiency assessments to support their continuous improvement and learning progress.
  • Organize immersive language experiences, such as language clubs, conversation groups, and cultural outings, to provide students with authentic opportunities to practice French language skills outside the classroom.
  • Administer language proficiency exams to measure students' language proficiency levels and tailor instruction to their individual needs and goals.
  • Explore innovative teaching approaches, such as flipped classrooms, gamification, and project-based learning, to create dynamic and interactive learning environments that foster student creativity and critical thinking skills.
  • Adopt a student-centered teaching philosophy, prioritizing student interests, goals, and learning styles, and providing opportunities for self-directed learning and exploration.
  • Leverage language laboratory resources and technology tools to provide students with opportunities for self-paced practice, pronunciation improvement, and language skill development in a supportive and interactive environment.
  • Coordinate course scheduling, syllabus development, and instructional materials preparation for French language courses, ensuring alignment with departmental standards and learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership and curriculum committees to align French language courses with program goals, accreditation standards, and industry trends, ensuring consistency and coherence across the curriculum.
  • Manage instructional resources, including textbooks, multimedia materials, and technology equipment, overseeing procurement, inventory management, and budget allocation to support effective teaching and learning.
  • Provide support and guidance to part-time faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and instructional staff teaching French language courses, offering training, mentoring, and resources to enhance their teaching effectiveness and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, academic regulations, and accreditation standards related to teaching and learning, staying informed about updates and changes and implementing necessary adjustments to course delivery and assessment practices.
  • Participate in program assessment activities, such as curriculum mapping, student learning outcome assessment, and program review processes, contributing to the evaluation and enhancement of French language programs' effectiveness and quality.


Qualifications

Required:
  • MA in French language, literature or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching French language for adults
  • Proficiency in diverse teaching methodologies and assessment practices
  • Dedication to student-centered learning and academic excellence
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Proficiency in English (CEFR level B1 or higher)


Preferred:
  • Certification in French language teaching
  • Familiarity with international language proficiency frameworks and assessment standards
  • Knowledge of Moroccan higher education policies and language education trends
