Summary
At Dakar Academy, our teachers invest their time and talents to design engaging lessons that bring learning to life. We are seeking an experienced French Teacher to plan, organize, and implement an approved curriculum that aligns with North American educational standards.
Our ideal candidate will use differentiated instruction and varied teaching techniques to foster student-centered learning and fluency in the French language. Objectives of this Role
- Foster interdisciplinary learning and instruction in alignment with North American curriculum standards and students' diverse learning needs.
- Integrate a Christian worldview into all course activities and assessments.
- Create a classroom culture that is welcoming, engaging, and positive.
- Plan, prepare, and teach lessons that promote the academic progress and overall well-being of all students.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with school staff, parents, and guardians in the best interest of students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and ongoing learning.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to provide differentiated learning opportunities for all students.
- Assess and evaluate student growth; develop action plans based on class-wide, group, and individual data.
- Record and report on student development, progress, and behavior, including grades, progress reports, and report cards.
- Collaborate with the school counselor, assistant principal, principal, ESL instructor, and special education instructor (as needed) to support students academically and socially.
- Attend staff devotions, meetings, and scheduled professional development sessions.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (minimum requirement)
- Ability to conduct all French classes using the target language (French) to promote immersion and fluency
- Strong understanding of best teaching practices and willingness to follow school policies and procedures
- Team-oriented, proactive, humble, and adaptable to various group dynamics
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Creative, positive, and energetic attitude
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional integrity
- A genuine heart for student ministry and Christian education
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid State Teaching Certificate
- ACSI Certification
- Previous experience teaching French within a North American or international curriculum
