We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Department - French to lead and strengthen our French language program across the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). In this leadership role, you will drive academic excellence, ensure alignment with IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning practices, and foster a dynamic language-learning environment that promotes intercultural understanding. You will oversee curriculum implementation, mentor educators, and ensure high-quality teaching and assessment standards across all IB levels.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities- Lead and manage the French department across PYP, MYP, and DP programmes
- Design and deliver engaging French lessons aligned with IB frameworks and inquiry-based methodologies
- Oversee curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and academic delivery within the department
- Mentor and support French teachers through observations, feedback, and professional development initiatives
- Ensure consistency in lesson planning, teaching standards, and student evaluation practices
- Prepare students for IB language assessments and support exam readiness across MYP and DP
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to improve language proficiency and academic outcomes
- Collaborate with IB coordinators and school leadership on curriculum development and academic planning
- Organize cultural activities, language immersion programs, and events that enhance experiential learning
- Maintain high standards of documentation, reporting, and compliance with IB guidelines
What Makes You a Great Fit- Bachelor's or Master's degree in French or a related field
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred
- Strong spoken and written proficiency in French
- Proven experience teaching French within an IB school environment, preferably across MYP and DP levels
- Prior experience in a leadership, coordinator, or departmental head role is highly desirable
- Deep understanding of IB philosophy, assessment standards, and inquiry-based learning approaches
- Strong mentoring, organizational, and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Passion for language education, cultural exchange, and fostering global perspectives in students
