Position Overview
The High School French Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in French language and Francophone culture to students in grades 9-12. The teacher will foster an immersive learning environment that promotes fluency, cultural appreciation, and cross-cultural communication, while integrating a biblical worldview throughout the curriculum. The ideal candidate demonstrates a passion for language learning, cross-cultural communication, and spiritual formation.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Duties
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with school curriculum and standards
- Create lesson plans that include grammar, vocabulary, conversation, reading comprehension, and cultural components
- Foster a student-centered learning environment with differentiated instruction to meet a variety of language abilities
- Integrate biblical principles into teaching and classroom culture
- Classroom & Assessment
- Design and administer assessments that reflect students' language development and guide instructional planning
- Maintain accurate and timely grading, feedback, and student records
- Establish and enforce consistent classroom management strategies that promote respect and responsibility
- Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental and school-wide meetings and professional development
- Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and administration to support student learning and holistic development
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom updates
- School Life Involvement
- Support school-wide events, chapels, student clubs, and extracurricular activities
- Actively engage in the spiritual and community life of the school
- Be available for occasional evening or weekend events such as parent-teacher conferences, intramural, or youth nights
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in French, Education, or related field
- Proficiency in spoken and written French
- Demonstrated classroom teaching experience, ideally with secondary students
- Passion for Christian education and the academic and spiritual development of students
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Master's degree or teaching certification
- Experience in international or cross-cultural education settings
- Familiarity with biblical integration in lesson planning
- Willingness to contribute to school leadership or co-curricular programs
