Job DescriptionFACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCESACADEMY OF GEOGRAPHY, SOCIOLOGY AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIESLecturer I / Lecturer II in European Studies (French) (24250393)Applications are invited for the appointment of a Lecturer I / Lecturer II in the Programme of European Studies (ES) at the Academy of Geography, Sociology, and International Studies (GSIS) at Hong Kong Baptist University. The undergraduate programme European Studies is situated within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
The appointee is expected to contribute to teaching and service in the following areas:
- Teaching French language (from beginners level up to level C1) and, if applicable, English-medium content courses offered in the European Studies programme;
- Contribute to the programme's operations, including assisting in organising student-focused events, liaising with exchange partner institutions, and helping to recruit future cohorts of students;
- Support in coordinating the summer intensive language course in Lyon, France; and
- Supervision of Honors Projects.
Applicants should possess a relevant master's degree or above and have sufficient teaching experience in higher education. The medium of instruction is French and English. Details of the theme areas and the profiles of the programmes in European Studies are available at: https://gis.hkbu.edu.hk.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two to three years, commencing September 2025. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
