About the RoleThe Department of Linguistics, within the School of the Arts, is looking to appoint a Lecturer in (French) Linguistics (Teaching and Scholarship) to cover a staff member on externally funded research leave.
Duties will include convening, teaching and marking on the following modules: (i) SML6209 Shaping identities: language and society in the French-speaking world (undergraduate), (ii) Sociolinguistics: English in use (undergraduate and MA), and another module in Linguistics.
The post is full-time and fixed-term appointment for 4 months, with an expected start date of 14 September 2026 until 13 January 2027. The starting salary will be Grade 5, £51,755 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
About YouYou will hold a PhD in (French) Linguistics or have an equivalent professional qualification, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, good organisational and communicative skills are also essential.
