As Marine HR Officer, you will provide day-to-day administrative and casework support for our seafarer employment framework across the Strait of Gibraltar fleet, comprising 4 vessels and xx crew.You will keep employment records, certificates and payroll paperwork in order, and support HR casework,

This role is based full time at our Algeciras office, , with occasional travel to Ceuta, Tangier and the vessels.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Issuing and filing seafarer contracts and variations and keeping employment records up to date across the fleet's Spanish, Moroccan and residual international arrangements.

• Tracking certificates of competency and flag state examination sittings, and maintaining records supporting MLC 2006, STCW and manning compliance.

• Preparing monthly payroll and social security inputs and supporting registration with TGSS and the Instituto Social de la Marina.

• Maintaining manning tables, rotation records and workforce data (headcount, FTE, turnover), and supporting onboarding and training compliance for new crew.

• Disciplinary, grievance and investigation processes. .

About You

Experience & Knowledge

• Proven experience in a Marine HR, Crewing, or Maritime Personnel role within the shipping, ferry, cruise, or offshore sector.
• Strong working knowledge of the Spanish Special Register of Ships and Shipping Companies (REBECA/Canary Islands Register) requirements and associated maritime employment regulations.
• Sound understanding of Spanish Labour Law, employment practices, and social security requirements.
• Experience interpreting and applying relevant Spanish Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) within the maritime sector.
• Knowledge of international maritime legislation, including MLC 2006, STCW, and flag state compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with crew employment contracts, payroll inputs, onboarding, repatriation, and seafarer administration.
• Experience liaising with maritime authorities, flag administrations, unions, and external stakeholders.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with crew, managers, unions, and regulatory bodies.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive employee information confidentially.
• Ability to interpret legislation and provide practical HR guidance to operational teams.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Qualifications

• A professional qualification in Human Resources, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Fluent Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
• P roficiency in Microsoft Office and HR/crewing management systems.

Desirable

• Experience supporting multinational crews across multiple jurisdictions.
• Knowledge of vessel inspections, audits, and maritime compliance processes.
• Previous experience within passenger ferry operations or short-sea shipping environments.
• Fluent French, both written and spoken
• Existing right to work in Spain, and able to be based in Algeciras with occasional travel to Ceuta, Tangier and the vessels.
