This position provides the opportunity of working at a WASC accredited international school, managing small class sizes, and teaching academically motivated students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Chiang Mai International School provides a generous amount of planning time to allow teachers to prepare classes and monitor student progress. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively in a positive and supportive department with well-qualified professional colleagues.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Secondary French Education
- Teaching license / certification from an accredited university/college
- Ability to teach French from Gr 6 - 12 level (including AP preferred)
- Minimum 2 years MS/HS teaching experience
- Student-centered, Flexible, and Creative instruction
- Attentive to Social-Emotional Learning needs of students
- Commitment to collaborative planning
- Proficient with educational, administrative and communication technology
- Fluent in English with excellent writing skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Secondary French Education
- Experience teaching in a multi-cultural setting
- Experience administering a variety of assessments and analyzing/communicating results
- Experience in data analysis and goal setting to inform and improve instructional practices
- Experience with interactive technology
- Good knowledge of multiple related disciplines
- Experience with differentiating and accommodating to meet learning and language needs
Major Job Responsibilities
- Plan and present lessons in French relevant to specific French subjects and grade levels assigned
- Create positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
- Design and present effective, standards-based instructional units
- Provide constructive feedback to students, parents and administration
- Deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction
- Evaluate and assess student performance and prepare professional-level reports based on school reporting schedule
- Implement, contribute to and/or develop curriculum associated with subject area
- Meet all deadlines related to submission of documents, information, and records
- Incorporate regular assessment data to inform instructional decisions
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Work collaboratively with other educators
- Establish and maintain professional communication with parents, students and colleagues
- Report for and perform supervision duties as assigned
- Sponsor, organize and supervise one extracurricular activity for one semester
- Collaborate to plan, implement and chaperone school activities related to divisional, 'all school', classroom or activities
- Attend all required scheduled meetings involving students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration
- Serve on at least one school-based committee as assigned
- Travel with and supervise school-based field trips (day trips and/or overnight trips) as assigned
- Adhere to CMIS child protection policies
- Understand Christian values and demonstrate positive character
- Perform other duties as assigned
