Purpose of Role

To be a dynamic and enthusiastic French teacher who can provide high-quality teaching and learning within a nurturing, stimulating and child-centred learning environment. Effective planning and the delivery of stimulating and engaging learning experiences is paramount to clearly establish high standards for progress, whilst encouraging and supporting pupils towards achieving their own individual goals. You should be a strong team player with a practical and flexible approach to problem solving and show a keenness to play a central role in the continuing development and improvement of our secondary school.

As a French teacher, you will:
  • Uphold public trust in school leadership and maintain high standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships across the school community.
  • Serve in the best interests of the school's pupils.

Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning:
  • Contribute to a culture where students experience a positive and enriching learning experience within your class.
  • Encourage high standards and expectations of behaviour from pupils by consistently implementing the school policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking to improve the quality of pupils' learning through using effective teaching techniques and the effective utilisation of resources and assessment.
  • Contribute to the secondary department and school improvement planning process and support and promote the educational priorities of the school.
  • Contribute to the development and/or implementation of school policies.
  • Use the performance management process to advance pupil learning and enhance professional practice in line with the school's aspirations and priorities.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work which identify clear targets and success criteria for securing student outcomes.
  • Provide accurate and detailed assessment of pupil progress and communicate this to the pupils and parents using the school's assessment systems.
  • Deliver learning through approaches in line with the ISP Language of Learning and the SGB Learning Policy.
  • Plan learning experiences that build on children's interests, developmental needs and next steps in learning.
  • Use observations and ongoing assessment to monitor children's progress and inform future planning.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and carers to support children's learning, wellbeing and development.
  • To keep up-to-date with curriculum changes and undertake development and training opportunities, including staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Effectively using home-school learning opportunities to support progress.
  • To communicate effectively as a class teacher, ensuring timely follow-up (24 hours) and effective resolution where appropriate.

Student Welfare and Safeguarding
  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
  • To maintain good order and discipline among pupils and safeguard their health and safety both when they are on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere.

ISP Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to global ISP Principles and follow the criteria set out in the ISP Teacher Role Profile
  • Under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher and her Senior Leadership Team, carry out the professional duties of a school teacher as set out in the current UK Teachers' standards document (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1040274/Teachers__Standards_Dec_2021.pdf).
  • Be accountable for leading, managing and developing student well-being and safeguarding in line with school policies and work closely with SLT and Head of school to ensure that good practice is evident at all times.

Please note that you may be asked to cover for absences when needed during non- teaching periods
