We exist to be the go-to companion, empowering everyone to transform their free time into experiences. At Smartbox Group, we believe that real-life experiences help us thrive, connect, and become the best versions of ourselves.

With nearly 15,000 different products across leisure themes - Stays, Wellness, Adventure, Gastronomy - we allow people to enrich their lives with moments of sharing, emotions, and unforgettable memories.

Present in 11 countries, Smartbox Group employs over 700 people across Europe and works with more than 40,000 trusted partners, including hotels, restaurants, wellness centres, and outdoor activity providers.

Living more than owning, sharing more than having - this is more than ever a fundamental trend in our society, and it's exactly what Smartbox offers.

Our Culture:

At Smartbox, we're on a mission to unbox our world and unbox the potential of our People. We're not just building a workplace - we're cultivating a movement where bold ideas, authentic connections, and real-world experiences redefine what work can be.

As our teams' trusted companion on this journey, we empower our people to take ownership, break boundaries, and dive headfirst into challenges that spark growth and impact. Together, we're creating a culture of daring curiosity, relentless ambition, and transformative purpose - where every team member is driven to experience life, experience potential, experience growth, shape their future, and leave a lasting mark on the world around us.

The Role:

This is a creative role with strategic reach. You'll shape how our experiences come to life in French - across every customer-facing touchpoint, from experience pages on the Beneficiary platform to CRM and paid channels for Smartbox Direct. You'll study what performs - open rates, CTR, conversion - and use that to sharpen your craft. Beyond writing, you'll set the creative direction for the wider copywriting team, training them to write comms that inspire, engage, entertain, and convert.

We're looking for someone who understands what makes people feel something - and come back. Someone who reads cultural shifts, knows how younger audiences discover and choose experiences, and uses that understanding to shape copy that's both emotionally compelling and genuinely useful. This is a role where you'll influence how a brand finds its voice, work with emerging AI tools, and grow alongside a business in its next chapter.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative - Copy, Concepts & Tone of Voice

  • Write high-performing marketing copy for the French market across all customer-facing touchpoints - experience pages, landing pages, CRM, paid channels, and more - copy that stops scrolling, builds desire, and converts
  • Develop campaign concepts that work across markets - sometimes originating the master concept and briefing other copywriters, sometimes receiving a concept and being first to execute it for French
  • Direct and train the wider copywriting team on writing that inspires, engages, entertains, and converts - teaching them to read audiences, adapt tone for cultural context, and raise the bar across markets
  • Own and protect the French tone of voice, ensuring it stays authentic, culturally grounded, and consistent across all channels
  • Stay close to cultural trends and audience behaviour - particularly with younger demographics - and use those insights to keep the brand's voice relevant, fresh, and commercially effective
  • Write for experiences, not just products - your copy should make someone feel the weekend away before they've booked it

UX Copy - Platform & Product

  • Write and review UX copy across the Beneficiary platform and Smartbox Direct - navigation, onboarding flows, empty states, CTAs, confirmation messages, error messages, and transactional communications
  • Ensure platform language feels consistent with the broader brand voice - the experience of using the product should feel as considered as the campaign that brought someone there
  • Work closely with Product and UX/Design teams to shape copy at the right moment in the process - before designs are locked, not after
  • Understand the user journey and write copy that reduces friction, builds confidence, and nudges action - particularly at key conversion and retention moments
  • Balance clarity and brand personality - UX copy must be precise enough to guide, warm enough to feel human

Operational - Project Management & Delivery

  • Manage the content request pipeline - intake, prioritisation, and delivery across multiple concurrent briefs
  • Track and meet SLAs across stakeholders; flag risks early and manage expectations proactively
  • Prioritise work based on business impact, not just creative interest - understand what matters most and sequence work accordingly
  • Maintain content calendars aligned to campaign timelines, seasonal moments, and product launches
  • Work within cross-functional systems - brief designers, coordinate with CRM, eCommerce, and Marketing teams - and understand how content fits into broader workflows
  • Coordinate with external agencies or freelancers where needed, ensuring outputs meet the bar

Iterative Thinking & Performance

  • Approach content with a test-and-learn mindset - know what's worth testing, ship it, read the data, and refine
  • Use performance data (CTR, engagement, conversion) to build an evolving understanding of what works for French audiences - and share those learnings with the team
  • Contribute to structured A/B testing with a clear hypothesis, not just variations for variation's sake
  • Build on each iteration - the goal is gradual, compounding improvement, not constant reinvention

Human-Led, AI-Augmented

  • Lead every piece of work with human creativity and strategic thinking - use AI tools to accelerate research, ideation, iteration, and scaling
  • Help the team develop a healthy, practical approach to using AI: where it adds speed, and where it flattens quality
  • Be the quality filter - the person who can tell the difference between copy that's been written and copy that's been generated

About You:

We're looking for someone who not only has the right skills but also embodies our guiding principles:

The Owner - You take accountability, act with integrity, and treat challenges as opportunities.

The Ambitious Maverick - You bring bold ideas, challenge the status quo, and are unafraid to take smart risks.

The Radical Optimist - You maintain a solutions-focused mindset, inspiring others with your positivity and resilience.

The Connector - You build authentic relationships, foster collaboration, and create space for diverse voices to thrive.

Skills & Experience:

  • C2/native-level French, business-fluent English (C1+) - you think and write in French, you brief and collaborate in English
  • Around 5 years in a copywriting or creative role - in-house, agency, or both. Lifestyle, experience, or consumer brands a plus
  • A strong portfolio - work that shows creative range and commercial impact. We want to see thinking, not just headlines
  • Creative collaboration - you've worked with designers and creative partners to develop ideas from concept to execution
  • Operational discipline - you can manage a full pipeline of briefs, meet deadlines, and keep stakeholders informed
  • Experience sharing your craft - through training workshops, feedback, or coaching. You know how to teach an approach, not just demonstrate it
  • UX copy experience - you've written for product interfaces and understand how microcopy inside a user journey differs from campaign copy
  • Experience with AI writing tools - you use them to enhance your work and workflows, not replace your thinking
  • Cross-functional confidence - comfortable working across Content, Marketing, CRM, Product, Tech and eCommerce
  • Audience and cultural instinct - you understand how different audiences - especially younger ones - discover, choose, and talk about experiences
  • Data-informed copywriting - you study performance - open rates, CTR, conversion - and use what you learn to make your next piece better
  • Test-and-learn mindset - you know what's worth testing and how to read results. You iterate based on evidence, not assumption

What We Offer:

  • Transparency: clear, fair salary bands and career levels
  • Hybrid work: 2-3 remote days + 20 days abroad per year
  • Growth Mindset: 4 Growth Days, Growth Leave + training budget
  • Flexible benefits: personalise with health, wellbeing & learning options
  • D&I commitment: parental leave, D&I Day, gender equity in rewards
  • Unbox Your World: Smartbox experience days + paid sabbatical after 5 years
  • Essentials: health cover, pension, extra leave, and more
