Weare seeking to appoint an ambitious and innovative Teacher of French with Spanish and/or German to join ourlively and supportive Modern Foreign Languages Department. The ability to offerSpanish and/or German would be an advantage.
The Modern Languages Department is alreadywell established with high standards of teaching andlearning across Years 7-11. We enjoy new classrooms with excellent facilitiesand equipment in each: whiteboard, projector, audio/visual facilities, classsets of textbooks and dictionaries, use of IT rooms and iPads and our pupilsare courteous and keen to learn. All pupils learn a language in KS3, with some pupils offeredthe opportunity to learn French or German on top of Spanish. All learn in mixed ability groups. The pupils havethe opportunity to continue to study a language toGCSE level in Year 11.
We strive to enhance our teaching with a wide range ofextra-curricular opportunities, which include trips and exchanges toSpain, France and Germany. All Year 7 pupils participate incurriculum-based projects such as Spelling Bee, Eurovision and the International TalentEvening. Part of our on-going development work also includes close liaison withour feeder primary schools to deliver Spanish at KS2. Pupils in Year 9 areinvited to apply to become Language Leaders and learn to deliver lessons in ourcatchment primary schools.
Our Schemes of Work are based around the Dinamo, ¡Viva! and Stimmt! courses atKS3, and we teach the AQA GCSE in Spanish, French and German at KS4. The fullcurrent curriculum for all year groups can be viewed on the College website.
Cambourne VillageCollege is an Ofsted 'Outstanding' rated, over-subscribed secondary school,eight miles from Cambridge. We opened as an academy of the Cam Academy Trust inSeptember 2013. Our ethos is aspirational and inclusive, our staff is highlymotivated, our pupils courteous and hard-working, and we have excellentfacilities. A 350 place sixth form opened in September 2024, with 175 studentsin each of Years 12 and 13.
