As Procurement Manager at Milence, you will own a portfolio dedicated to civil work and contracting required for Milence charging sites, including construction, building, fencing, security, hygiene, and more. Our Procurement department is focused on data, sustainability, and a Total Cost of Ownership approach. You will work closely with the Finance, Asset Management, R&D, Operations, and Legal teams, acting as a project manager to bring all departments together and ensure successful collaboration.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement. the Procurement Manager, Civil & Construction will be equipped to navigate the complexities of a diverse and dynamic market while ensuring successful procurement and project delivery across multiple European countries. The role emphasizes compliance with EU regulations, sustainability, and cost management, while fostering effective collaboration with European teams and suppliers.
Your responsibilities will be- Identify and evaluate suppliers of construction materials, equipment, and services.
- Building the supplier and category strategies for your portfolio on a country and European level.
- Negotiate contracts with local and international suppliers to ensure timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with a network of reliable suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop and manage procurement budgets for construction projects, ensuring alignment with European market conditions and pricing trends.
- Apply cost-effective procurement strategies to reduce overall project costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor European regulations that may impact cost or procurement strategies.
- Draft, review, and manage contracts in compliance with European Union regulations, as well as local laws and standards.
- Ensure suppliers and contractors adhere to contractual terms, including sustainability requirements and safety standards.
- Develop your suppliers and have performance follow up.
- Monitor contract performance and resolve disputes or concerns in accordance with legal frameworks.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and construction teams to align procurement strategies with project goals.
- Coordinate with European-based teams such as engineering, legal, and operations to ensure streamlined procurement processes.
- Contribute to cross-functional project teams across various European locations to address diverse project needs.
- Identify and assess potential risks in procurement processes, such as currency fluctuations, customs delays, or geopolitical hurdles affecting suppliers.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact on construction projects, especially in cross-border situations.
- Ensure procurement practices align with European sustainability regulations, environmental standards (e.g., EU Green Deal), and corporate social responsibility goals.
- Stay updated on market trends, new construction technologies, and innovations specific to the European construction industry.
- Conduct market research on suppliers, regulations, and new materials or methods that can bring cost efficiencies or strategic advantage.
Who are we looking for?- You will have previous working experience in procurement, preferably in construction and/or civil engineering.
- You hold a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or similar field.
- You are fluent in English and French languages.
- You have knowledge of supply chain and understand how processes are interlinked and you are able to have a holistic view over projects.
- You have great communication skills with expertise in negotiating contracts with suppliers and contractors.
- You are successful in converting opportunities into strategy, improvements or innovations which contribute to better business performance.
- You enjoy collaborating in a team while also taking own initiative.
- You have knowledge of European construction standards, sustainability goals, and regulatory frameworks.
- You have strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged courses of action.
