The Tax Adviser will be responsible for managing the effective and efficient operation of taxes for related processes for France.
Special focus needs to be put on Tax accounting knowledge, Indirect Tax knowledge (excluding excises duties & customs) - reporting, filing and dispute resolution in direct cooperation with Tax Operation in SBOs; and language requirements – strong French is a must. Key responsibilities: • Focus on compliance activities - Prepare/assist in preparation of tax and local tax returns for all downstream legal entities in France, ensuring their accurate / timely filings and payments thereof - where migrated - in direct cooperation with Tax Operation in SBOs • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all other French tax return • Ensure accurate / timely filing of transfer pricing returns in direct cooperation with Tax Operation in SBOs • Calculate, record, and report separate legal entity income tax provisions, return to provision adjustments, deferred tax true-ups and effective tax rates • Maintain accurate tax basis balance sheets for assigned entities that support the deferred income tax balances in the financial statements • Perform all Indirect tax Compliance controls for assigned responsibilities in conformity and in compliance with the Tax Manual • For assigned legal entities, be the primary contact with fiscal authorities inquiries during the course of an audit • Analyze tax implications and applicability of proposed legislation / tax law changes for assigned areas of responsibility • Develop and maintain relationships with the Businesses and Functions • Assist in raising tax awareness across French businesses through training and workshopsRequirements:
This Tax Adviser position requires an individual having a wide fiscal expertise and good communication skills to engage with SBOs, businesses/support functions.
• Ability to understand both business and technical aspects • Ability to work effectively with Finance Operations and use virtual ways of working. • Ability to work with tax authorities to ensure information requests are fit for purpose • Broad experience in business and indirect taxation working for Shell, another multinational, or a professional firm; • Recognized professional qualification and member of a recognized accounting or legal professional body; • Very strong English and French language skills (writing, reading and verbal); • Effective communicator of complex tax issues, both written and oral; • Effective client/project management and task prioritization skills;
